Born in 1967. Served in the army for three years. Worked in security and law enforcement. Founded Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna - the Malta Heritage Trust in 1987. Pioneered the use of historical re-enactments as a direct means of interpreting heritage sites. Worked to increase public awareness in fields of Malta's rich British heritage. Has actively campaigned for the recognition of rural and industrial heritage as part of the nation's cultural patrimony. Has helped to introduce new ways of safeguarding the nation's cultural patrimony. Established Fort Rinella in Kalkara as a live-museum and heritage attraction. Maintains a personal interest in military history, focusing on historic artillery and fortifications from the mid-19th century to the present. Author of a study on the history of Fort Rinella and its Armstrong 100-ton gun. Has contributed papers and articles in foreign journals and publications. Till recently, he sat on the Board of Directors of Heritage Malta, the Valletta Rehabilitation Project and the Cottonera Rehabilitation project.

Dr George Said was educated at St. Edward’s College between 1982 and 1993 and St Aloysius’ College between 1993 and 1995. In 1995 he entered the University of Malta where he obtained a B.A. (Bachelor of Arts in Legal and Humanistic (InternationalRelations) Studies in 1998. In 1995 he obtained a Diploma in Notarial Studies and graduated as Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) in 2001. having submitted a dissertation in the Maritime Law field to the effect of drafting and proposing a Single Act for the Law regulating Harbour Pilotage in Malta. In 2001 he was awarded a full British Council Chevening Scholarship to pursue post graduate studies in the United Kingdom. He then entered the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom in 2001 where he specialised in Admiralty Law, The Law of Carriage of Goods by Sea and The Law of International Trade and finally submitted a dissertation in the Maritime Law field on the Rights of the Lawful Holder of the Bill of Lading where the Goods have been Transhipped under the Contract of Sale, the Letter of Credit and the Contract of Carriage. He graduated from the University of Southampton with a Masters (LL.M.) in Maritime Law. He now practices law in Malta, and specialises in maritime and commercial law. Dr Said is very interested in Maltese History, particularly in naval and maritime history and has been active in a number of organisations which are related to such. He is also a very keen ship model collector and has a special interest in vessels which have a connection with Malta.
