Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna - the Malta Heriatge Trust has this week given start to the restoration of two long delapidated late 19th century Brtish artillery store rooms. These are located above the entrance of the Lascaris Battery. Orginally they formed part of the Left Lower Flanking Battery part of the SS. Peter and Paul Dem-Bastion (Barracca Bastion) in Valletta now known as St. Anthony Square. When originally built, these rooms served as stores for the sidearms and impliments of the two 10-inch Smooth-bore Muzzle Loading howitzers emplaced there. They were later put to other uses until left abandoned more than half a century ago. Once completed, these will serve as additional adminsitrative office space for the Saluting Battery and the War Rooms. All work is being carried in-house by the FWA Maintenance and Logistics Unit
