New Raised Viewing Platform Trialled at the Saluting Battery

Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna - the Malta Heritage Trust has since the last few weeks been trailing the use of a raised tiered visitor stand at the Saluting Battery to better control crowds and offer a better vantage point to visitors to take photographs of the gun firing displays from. The twice daily time-signal gun firing displays attract huge crowds both inside and outside the Saluting Battery as can be seen from the photographs reproduced here. Often times the rows are six and even eight deep especially in the Upper Barracca balcony leaving those at the back little or no chance to assist to anything. If found successful the platform will be dressed to make it less conspicuous and adopted permanently. The Saluting Battery is supported by the Malta Tourism Authority and the Bank of Valletta as FWA main partner.
