Traditional Full-Gun Salute Fired on Victory Day

Sep 8
1 min read

Today a ceremonial full gun salute was fired at noon from the guns at the Saluting Battery in Valletta. This marks Malta's Victory Day: the lifting of the Great Siege of Malta in 1565, the end of the French Blockade in 1800, and the surrender of Italy in 1943.

It is always encouraging to see a large number of visitors at the Saluting Battery to witness this important yearly anniversary. The full gun salute on the 8th of September is a long-standing local tradition which we are proud to keep alive to this day.
