VIP Visit at the Lascaris War Rooms

oday was a very special day at Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna's Lascaris War Rooms in Valletta as they were visited by David Dwight Eisenhower, grandson of US General Dwight D. Eisenhower who in July 1943 had used the Lascaris War Rooms as his Battle Headquarters from where he launched the Allied invasion of Sicily on 9/10July 1943. David came with a large group of American visitors to whom he was giving introductions about his illustrious grand father particularly about his role as Supreme Allied Commander in the Sicilian Campaign.


David was met my Mario Farrugia, Chairman of FWA and was shown around the war rooms and the Operation Husky Museum He was also shown the operations room from which his grandfather had launched the Sicilian landings in 1943 and where he could see a life-size figure of his grandfather flanked by the main Allied commanders of the Sicilian campaign.
